Mountain bluebirds

I had great fun with these birds. I punched the bird out od bashful blue cardstock and then sponged the pieces with brilliant blue ink. I free hand cut the tree trunck and branch, and the leaves are made with certainly celery and always artichoke cardstock.

I am loving this punch, but then I collect anything with birds.

This is my lastest new toy. The Extra- Large Two step Bird punch from the Occasions mini catalogue. I used thwe smallest heat from our triple heart punch for the cardinals topknot. I didn't want the thickness of layers so I sponged the red border in. I freehanded the music notes. I love making images with the punches.

Another DSP ornament

This curly DSP wreath ornament is so cute. To make it I used the circle sissors to cut my wreath out of cardstock to look like a doughnut. I then cut 2 more doughnuts out of sticky sheet and put them on both sides of the cardstock. I then cut many strips of DSP 1/4 by 3 inches long and curled it. The next one I make I will cut the stripes 6 inches long and curl from each end into the middle. Working on one side at a time apply your curls to the sticky sheet until it is covered and then do the other side. When Both sides were covered I then went around the outside edge with sticky stripe and the cover that with curls. Attach your elastic cord to hang your ornament and tie on a ribbon.

I'm Back

We have had an extremely busy summer and fall, that didn't leave time for stamping. The last coulpe weeks I've had a bit of time to stamp, but haven't scanned or taken pictures of any of it yet. I have to work the next couple of days and then I plan to upload some ornaments I've been making. Check back by the weekend.

Shaving Cream

For my last stamp club I revisited a technique that I had shown a couple years ago. My club has changed so much it is time to bring back some of the old techniques. This is the shaving cream technique. I t gives a beautiful background and is so easy to do.

Put a layer of the foam shaving cream in a pie plate about 1/2 in thick. Drop in a few drops of re-inker and swirl it with a knife. Lay your cardstock face down in the shaving cream making sure it is well covered. Pull it up scrap the shaving cream off with a spatula and the wipe gentlly with a paper towel. Let dry for a bit and then you can stamp directly over the shaving cream design or us as a background.

This was a big hit with my girls.

Wagon Full of Fun

Yesterday I got my Spring Occasions pre-order. Tonight I got to play with my new toys. I love the new stamp set "Wagon Full of Fun". It can be used for so many occasions and I can also picture it on scrapbook pages. Just haven't had a chance to try it scrapbooking yet. The new DSP paper is beautiful too. I used the white chunky glitter for the frosting on the cupcake, It looks almost eatable.

Felt Flowers Prayer

Tonight I played with my felt flowers and my new "Thoughts and Prayers" stamp set. I also ran the main card through the Big Shot with a texture plate. You can't really see it with the scan but in real life it is beautiful. The felt flowers turned out so good I plan to play with them a bit more and see what I come up with.

Sticky Sheets

I just got the sticky sheets in my last order and sat down to play with it today. I punch a flower using the 5 petal flower punch. I then used one of the half beads from the pretties kit for the center. Then I put the sticky side in the larger of the duo beads, and then dipped it in the micro beads. Peeled the backing of and applyed it where I wanted it.

The piece under it is ribbon weaving using the ribbon bundle from the SAB.

I love the eyelet border punch. It makes such a nice lace border.

Woven Ribbon

This card is made using the woven ribbon technique. This is one of the cards THat I will be demonstrating at a workshop next week. I used the ribbon and DSP from the SAB catty.

Is't the new border punch adorable. I used it on the DSP. I just love it. The flower is one of the felt flowers that we sell.

Punch Cardinal

Birds and birdhouses are some of my favorite things so I have been playing with the chickadee from my last post and trying to come up with other birds. Today I got the cardinal to where I was satisfied with it. There is a bluejay in the making, watch for it in the next few days.

After I had my cardinal put together I made this card for him using the retired set, Peaceful Wishes. I cut the pinecones out and used a dimensional on the front one. I also used my :Dazzling Crystal on the cones.

Punch Creation

Today I made this chickadee using a pattern I found on Splitcoast yesterday. Here is the link to her website. The card opens on the scalloped edge. I used crystal effects and DDglitter on the snowflakes. It never shows up in a scan like it does in real life. He needs something to sit on, but I'm not sure how to accomplish that. Any ideas?

This morning we had a beautiful sunrise that inspired this card. The trees glitter and glisten. I made Dazzling Crystal, with a 1/2 bottle of crystal effect and 3/4 container of DD glitter. Just remember to shake the bottle well before use as the glitter settles to the bottom. I have been using this on almost everything I've made lately. Appling glitter this way eliminated having glitter everywhere.

I'm finally back. After a number of trips with my computer to the repair shop and

still having the same problem I finally bought a new computer. Hopefully I will be able to post on a regular bases now.

For my next stamp club I plan for my gals to make some of these tags with the Topnote die and different punches. These ideas are not original with me. I want them to experience some more of the Bigshot.

Christmas Card camp

Christmas is coming, so that means it's time to start thinking about Christmas cards. I am offering a Christmas card camp again this year on Nov 1st at my place( 3341 McConachie Ck Rd).

These are the designs we will be making. I will have everything pre-cut, all you have to do is stamp and assemble the cards. There will be 4 each of the 5 designs for a total of 20 cards, envelopes included. We will start at 1:00 and should finish around 4:30. The cost is $40. Pre-registry by Oct 25th is a must so I can have everything cut and ready to stamp. You can phone or email me to register.

Bella Rose and Pretties Meet

I have my new toys and after playing with the Big Shot I had some scalloped circles to play with. I knew I wanted to use a scallop circle made from the rose paper and Ridinghood Red cardstock. It took some trial and error before I came up with this. I'm very pleased with the outcome. I think the Ridinghood red has become my favorite colour. I seems everything I have made the last while has that color somewhere in the project. I used always artichoke ribbon for the leaves to my flower.

Here is another card made with the new colours. Kiwi Kiss is the base and Pink Pirouette is the layer under the DSP. This is such a soft pink. A perfect pick for baby girls. The hodge podge is from Styled Silver.

Summer has been busy. Two weeks ago while we were camping I had a chance to play with my New Catty pre-order toys. Now today I have a chance to up-load some odf what I did. The Bella Rose DSP and the new In-colours are gorgeous. I love them. My goal for that stamp session was to only use new colours and stamp sets. I can hardly wait to see what the stamp set that goes with the Bella Rose DSP will look like. I am a sucker for Roese which dosen't help any.

My new catalouges have been sent so soon........ I hope.

This is called a spring card. The tutorial is on SCSunder resources. This is my first atempt at making this fun card using DSP. A couple score lines and a few folds and voila you have a card that pops up when you take it out of the envelope. You will need the 5 1/2" square envelopes for this cute card.

Double Sided Paper

I finally have some time to play. We got rain yesterday and today so my gardening has come to a halt.

I haven't been able to find my camera cord every since we had to have our DSL modem replaced so I had to scan my work. It dosen't show the folds like a picture would.

I found this cool idea on a blog with a tutorial and had to play. Sorry I didn't bookmark and can't remember whose it was so I could give you the link. I used paper from the Boho Blend scrapin kit.

Faux Fresh Cut

I didn't order the Fresh Cut stamp set or the notes . Tonight when I was wishing for something new to play with, it all of a sudden hit me that with the punches I could do a faux Fresh Cut note. This is what I came up with using the 5-petal flower punch and the retired Spring Bouquet flower punch.

Double Pocket Card

I finally took time to stamp tonight. Hubby is gone for the weekend fishing and I decided that the unplanted flower beds can wait till tomorrow. The last 2 weekends I was babysitting 2 of the grandkids ages 3 and 6 so stamping didn't happen.

Splitcoast had the tutorial for this card this wek. I thought it looked very interesting. It is actually quite easy to do. I plan to make another one for our friends 25th aniversary.

Finally a chance to stamp again. We have had 3 days of rain so there isn't much happening in the greenhouse. Not many customers show up when it is this wet. This evening I made these 2 cards using River Rock and Black cardstock. In both cards I embossed the main image.

Another Carousel Note

Here is another card made with a carousel note. The stamp set is retired but the card is for my Mother and the image suits here perfectly. She hasn't been here for almost 2 years (she lives 6 hrs. away). She chose to come this time of the years so she can get her bedding plants from my greenhouse. How special is that.

I used the piercing tool for the edge of the carousel note, and colored my image with the WWC and an aqua painter.

The greenhouse is very busy now but hopfully I'll have an update by next Sunday.

Carousel notes

I ordered the carousel Notes and got them on Tuesday. Tonight I finally had a bit of time to play with them. I didn't have a lot time to play so had to come up with something that was quick and easy. This is what I came up with. Hopefully in the next few days I can play again and try something a little more elaborate.

I made this card for the SC card sketch challenge today. I put some fine cosmo orchid glitter on the flowers.It doesn't sparkle in the scan like it does in real life. I used the watercolor crayons and aqua painter to color with.

scrapbook pages

This weekend I did some scrapbooking. This is one of the spreads I did of some of the grandkids. I really like how it turned out. The flowers are made using both of the triple flower punches and then layed using brads. I'm trying to get at least 2 or 3 spreads finished each week or as much as my other life allows.

Today I wanted something to remind me that spring is REALLY coming. It has been cold (-13C)and windy. This is what I came up with. My card is 8 1/2 x 3 1/2. I used Carte Postale for the flowers and the chickadee is from Spring Song. I stamped the flowers with pretty in Pink and then used my markers to color the leaves and stems

Circle Card

I wanted to make a card that wasn't cased and also was not the standard size. This is what I came up with. I had fun coloring it. The sky is sponged with ink. The deer is colored with watercolor crayons and the aqua painter. The ribbon is the poly-twill ribbon from the Occasions mini.

My Other Life

This is pictures from my other life. These are my Babies. We have a 30'x60' greenhouse where we grow bedding plants to sell. If I miss a few days or weeks where I don't post it is because I am busy in the greenhouse. At this point we have no hired help, just me and my husband who helps part time. In May when sales start it will be very busy for about a month. It is so nice to have this touch of spring early as we still have lots of the white stuff and it probably won't be gone until the end of the month. I can get my spring fix starting the first part of March with the greenhouse, which helps make our long winters bearable.

Mother's Day is coming up fast and I wanted a card that was unique. While cruising SCS last week I cam across this, http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/870864 and thought it was a cute idea. I used Priceless stamp set for my main images and different word sets and an alphabet for the words. the base card stock is 4 1/4x 11, scored at 1 3/8, 2 3/4, 4 1/4, 5 5/8, 7 8 3/9 and 9 3/4 inches. the netural squares are 1 1/2", 2", 2 1/2" 3" and the coloured squares are 1 3/4", 2 1/4", 2 3/4" and 3 1/4" square.

Card Class

This weekend I was a part of a Women's Weekend that our town was putting on. I was asked to teach a card class. ( I'm the one standing). For the class we did the box with cards that I have posted here earlier. We only had 1hr and 15 mintues for each class so I had everything pre-cut and punched, so all they had to do was stamp and put together. Even so it was tight, but we had lots of fun and I meet new people. I had put a business card and a technique ooklet in each package so I'm hoping to get some leads from that. I had 2 groups , 16 stampers in all.

Coloring Ablums

Would you like more colors in the Linen ablums?
Well look no further. You can have any one of SU's 48 colors plus the in colors. This ablum started out as natural linen album, then colored with pumpkin pie. Mix equal amounts of reinker and water in a bowl. Take your ablum apart and lay it flat and use a sponge to apply the color. Let dry and sponge again to make sure the color is even. For this 12 x12 album we used 3 reinkers. We are coloring another one Blue Bayou and it is going to need 4 reinkers. It seems the darker the color the more reinker it takes. I have also colored one with perfect plum

"For Father" is a great set that I HAD to have when I saw it. Ilove line art and coloring. The new chocolate chip poly-twill is great ribbon. It is so smooth and lays so nice. A few more colors would be great.

Time Well Spent

This card is made with the stamp set Time Well Spent which is the Level III Hostess set Take SU sent to all their demonstrators. For this card I stamped the images on White cardstock and colored them with the markers, cut them out and then put them on the card. I used ruby red and garden green cardstockfor the main card.

You can earn this set by hosting a workshop with sales of $750.

Wow! What a quick way to decorate a plain pillar candle. I used the brown rub ons from the SAB package "Love and Happiness". These are so easy to work with. In just minutes you change something from ordinary to something stunning.

Using Rub Ons In Home Decor

I got my SAB rub ons yesterday and today I used some of the white ones to decorate the glass in my dining room cupboard doors. I had been wanting to etch the glass but never got it done, so when SU came out with the rub ons I decided to use them instead. This way it isn't permanent and if I ever want to change them I can without changing the glass. They were easy to apply. Without the glare from the flash they look awesome.

I have had great fun with this Level I hostess stamp. I love all things flowers so this stamp caught my eye as soon as I saw it. It is a great stamp for any of the coloring techniques. For this card I used the Watercolor crayons and my aqua painter. This is one of my favorite coloring techniques. I stamped with versa mark and then embossed with black emboss powder before I colored. This give a sharp image.

The words are rub ons.

This stamp has been very popular with my Hostesses. It has been the #1 pick for most of them.
